Meadville Lombard Theological school educates about one third of our Unitarian Universalist ministers. The model of education is unique. The semester begins with our classes online. We receive the syllabi, reading lists, and assignments. We meet to discuss the material every week for 12 weeks by phone or by video. At the end of the semester the students meet in person for a week in Chicago.

I tell you this because it taught me how to be deeply connected to my peers in spite of the physical distance between us. I continue with these connections including a group that meets for three hours a month for mutual spiritual direction. I consider this an important part of my self-care.
